Regarding Flappy Blitz


Flappy Blitz is my first ever entirely developed game. It begun it's life as a project from a tutorial I watched on YouTube and decided to create my own flappy bird game. It was very important to me that the game had to be as simple as it can get, so I could finish it in just a day or two... it took me 4, because of conflicts with my college schedule, but I managed to finish it with around 10 hours of study and actual working.

So, what is Flappy Blitz? My first game is a ripoff of a very popular game called Flappy Birds, where you play as a little bird jumping in the air trying to go through pipes in the way, earning points when successfully  crossing the pipes. So, change the pipes for barricades and the bird for a tank and you'll have Flappy Blitz, a Unity, 2D, pixel-art, arcade, PC game designed and created entirely by me, with only a YouTube tutorial and some readings on internet of expertise.

To me, the biggest of the challenges on creating a came as a independent and lone developer is persistence, a lot of soft and hard skills, such as some knowledge on programming, 2D art, sound effects, and tons of motivation to turn to life your dreams (not that my game can be categorized as one lol). With Flappy Blitz wasn't different, I had to learn, in a matter of hours, all of those skills, all of this without losing interest for the idea, which at the time I wasn't yet fully sure was the way I wanted to chose.

With all of this said, I can now tell you that my fist game is a total success to me, because I learned tons of new things, that now became very important, as I'm now a Digital Games Technology student at Uninter, and a future professional game programmer. With all this new experience I achieved total certainty that game development would be my new future, and now I am, developing my next major project.
